Big Wall and Multi pitch
Calaveras Dome Big Wall & Multi Pitch
Calaveras Dome is a 2000ft rock face tucked between highway 88 and Bear Valley and home to some of the highest quality granite crack climbing in California. The Dome overlooks the Salt Springs Reservoir and a small valley, which is virtually devoid of humans. What makes Calaveras Dome so unique is the 15 min approach, long routes and empty walls. The granite walls rival Yosemite quality and the lack of crowds makes this an adventure climbing paradise.
Calaveras Dome offers some of the longest routes in California.

Yes, we supply all technical gear, haul bags and stove.
We have the ability to rent shoes, harness and helmets.
We don’t supply sleeping bags or sleeping pads.
Free climbing does not mean without a rope. It means you use a rope for safety but use your hands and feet to ascend up the wall.
Aid climbing is using pieces of gear to ascend up the wall
Jumar or Ascending the rope is climbing the rope itself with mechanical ascenders.
Sleeping on a big wall is unlike any other climbing experience out there! Being able to be up high in such beautiful places allows us to forget about everything else that keeps us busy in day to day life and creates an experience that is unforgettable!
It’s normal to be afraid of heights! If humans didn’t have a natural fear of heights, we would’ve walked ourselves off of cliffs long ago. Owning up to the natural fear allows us to use it as a tool to conquer our emotions and succeed in a challenging environment.
George Mallory, while being interviewed about why he wanted to climb Mt. Everest, made a reply that has been quoted to this day, “because it’s there.” The pursuit of challenging one’s self is an ancient concept pre-dating the modern day act of “rock climbing.” We live in a time where comforts and life is as easy as ever. To pull ourselves back to our roots and to push ourselves in nature is an integral part of the human experience! The blatant fear of the unknown is what success is born from.
